winter collection addition

a repeat pattern to add to the snowboarding gear. This I think would be a nice fabric for jackets or backpacks.

turning into a wintery collection

Spring is finally almost here and what do you know, my latest experimenting in illustrator is turning into a wintery collection. Im starting to see this as patterns for women's snowboarding gear or gift wrap. Perhaps maybe even greeting cards. but it sort of reminds me of the edgy/geometric patterns you see on Burton's jackets and snowboarding pants these days or backpacks.

modern spin on persian rug

this is a design for a hallway rug. the idea is inspired by persian rugs, gothic architecture and ornament, navajo geometric designs, and an Indian color palette.

Long days work

Success. I think anyways. After a long day of staring at my computer screen I finally have a repeat pattern thats inspired by Arabic geometric designs and shapes, with a fresh and youthful color palette. woohoo!

more snowflakes

snowflakes

For these snowflakes, I used all the same colors from the geometric series, but brought the opacity down so it could be a bit calmer. I printed these as xmas cards this year.

funky bright geometrics - last one

Whoops, couldn't fit the last one in with the previous post. But also forgot to mention that, the funky flower one, yes yes its not geometric, I tried to see what it would come out like to go back to the more organic way I usually work but still think about all the things i mentioned before that i was picking up on when working with the geometrics.

funky bright geometrics

I guess I have been taking a break from the usual organic flowing shapes that I normally work with to experiment with some geometric ones! I've discovered a couple things.. 1. negative space is sooo fascinating! I love all the shapes that I made without, at first, realizing that I was making a shape there. 2. Alternating patterns... you could alternate endlessly. I always think back to a class I had on gothic cathedrals where we talked about how at some point in history..of course I can't remember the exact date..it became the style to alternate the shapes of the columns in the arcade. 3. You can really make complex designs with the most simple shapes. almost everything in these pieces, started out by using the circle or square tool in Illustrator.
Anyways, I had these printed up as square note/greeting cards for a xmas present this year and was really pleased with the way they came out. But I can imagine they would also make pretty funky pillows.. or the striped ones, would make some really edgy purses. or leggings if you could rock it!
